Christmas 2009

We had a great Christmas. In fact, we celebrated Christmas for 4 days with different pieces of our family all over the state. The three four of us are still recuperating. Izzie was alot of fun to watch while she tore through mounds of paper! Greg and I enjoyed being with family. We are so blessed to be given the gift of God's son, Jesus Christ.
Santa brought a bunch of STUFF!

Opening my first gift
A beanbag!

A Cabbage Patch Doll!

A Car!

Negotiations

Izzie HATES to have her diaper changed.... Weird I know. While she was lying on her changing table screaming like a wild dog, I made a negotiation. I would allow her to go sans pants if she would let me change her diaper. It worked. Yeah Mommy!
Also, Greg was missing his nose spray. I wonder how it ended up there.

Stockings

I know that Liza isn't "officially" here yet, but that's no reason to exclude her from Christmas. I can't wait to have both of our girls here!

Christmas Balls

I happen to be the most uncreative person in the whole wide world. I don't do crafts, I don't have pretty handwriting and I never, ever, make gifts. Until... this year. Being as that I am UNCREATIVE, I got the idea for these cute Christmas balls from Kelly. For less than $2 a ball, all the girls at Izzie's daycare will have a cutsie ornament to hang on their tree this year. Thanks, Kelly!

Christmas Card

So, do you like the new header on the blog? It is this year's Christmas Card. Those of you who know me will be getting one in the mail real soon. Last year we had our cards professionally made, but thanks to my awesome Rebel XSi and Photoshop, I thought I would give it a go this year. Turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

We had a busy Thanksgiving Break. Monday started off with 2 doctor's visits for me. Physical Therapy for my sore feet... yeah!!! And a trip to my OB for my glucose screening test, which I failed. Tuesday Izzie had surgery to remove her adenoids and rinse her sinuses. Everything went perfect, a blessing indeed. Wednesday morning I had to complete a 3 hour fasting glucose tolerance test. I passed. Yea! No gestational diabetes! We came home Wednesday afternoon. Thursday we vegged out, a lot. We ate lunch with our pastor and his family. Thanks so much, Halls. Izzie did well at lunch but was a total crab the rest of the day. Can you blame her? She had just had someone rooting around in her sinuses. We did a little black Friday shopping and finished off the weekend decorating for Christmas. I love Christmas. Presents will be pretty slim this year, but that doesn't change the reason for the season. Thank you, God for your perfect gift!
The tree was my project. The house was Greg's. He LOVES Christmas lights, and I love that he is like a little kid at Christmas!

Daycare Thanksgiving

Yummy! Ham!

Today Izzie and I were privileged to be part of our 1st daycare Thanksgiving Feast. We took green beans (and ice). The meal was fabulous! Izzie ate ham, dinner roll and dressing! (She squished all the green beans without eating one!) This was such a great opportunity to share with the other families and workers at her daycare. Thanks, Ms. Jane and Ms. Debbie!
Wow! I'm soooo full!

Happy Fall, Y'all

The weather has been in the 70's, but the leaves around our place make it look like fall. We took Izzie outside last weekend to play with the leaves, sticks, and dogs. She loved it.

I've been a little awall here lately. This is mostly due to fatigue. I'm pooped all the time. They say that no 2 pregnancies are the same, and they(whoever they is) are right. I feel completely different than I did when I was pregnant with Izzie. Maybe this was because I wasn't chasing a 1 year old around then.

Update on Izzie... She is perfect :) She eats off the table, drinks tons of juice and sleeps all night. She is a total Mommy's girl and must be held for at least 4 hours a day. She walks runs everywhere! She is very smart. Many times I see the wheels turning in her little head an wonder "what will she be into next?"

She's a little sick right now. I took her to see her ENT yesterday, and he ordered a CT of her sinuses. Her adenoids are swollen, and she's had thick green runny snot for about a month. I know that our crazy weather isn't helping, but this is her 9th sinus infection in 7 months! I hope we have some answers soon.

Greg is doing well other than his sinus infection (are they genetic?) We are both excited that we have only 5 more school days until Thanksgiving break.

Fall Festival

Saturday we attended the fall festival at our church. Izzie dressed as the most beautiful flower you have ever seen. After the festival we Trunk or Treated, but the Jumper-Roo was the biggest hit for our little flower.

Octoberfest 2009

This Saturday we attended Octoberfest 2009. The jazz band played. Our neighbor girl sang. It was a nice, but cool day. Izzie enjoyed all the entertainment. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the BBQ. Izzie was but a mere 3 weeks old when we attended Octoberfest 2008.

2nd Time at the Park

We took Izzie to the park for the second time this past Saturday. I must say that she had much more fun than the first time we took her. She swang, played in the gravel and ran around while mommy and daddy took lots of pictures.

1 Year Old

My baby turned 1 year old last Friday. I have sorta avoided this post because I didn't want to admit it to myself! She amazes her daddy and me every day. She keeps us on our toes, and we wouldn't want it any other way. Parts of me feel like I have been her mommy forever ,while other parts of me feel like it was just a mere short while ago that we brought this precious little bundle home from the hospital.

What she has been up to this past month:

Walking-- or should I say running. This month Izzie has changed her preferred method of travel. The last couple of months she has been able to walk but would rather crawl. Now she runs. Her latest trend has been walking while carrying something... anything really! She is so sophisticated!

Eating-- Izzie will eat almost anything that she can feed herself. She is eating 3 good meals a day, but she still enjoys her bottle. We are starting the weaning process. It isn't going so well!

Interaction-- She loves her mommy and her daddy but especially mommy. She wants to be held and cuddle despite the fact that she is widely independent. She cried fiercely after her 12 month vaccinations, and nothing would help except to be held by her mommy (melt my heart!)

Play-- She is very interested in how things work. She likes to take things apart and put them back together. She likes to push buttons and empty/fill purses.

She has has tried whole milk with no reactions, so we are ditching the formula after this box. This weekend is going to be devoted to weaning. I know that it is going to be tough. She throws the milk sippy cup at whomever gives it to her. She's smart. She'll drink anything out of a cup except milk. Maybe I need to read that book about raising the strong willed child.

At her doctor's appointment this week she was in the 90% for height and in the 75% for weight and head circumference.

We turned her carseat around Tuesday, and she seems to be enjoying the ride facing forward.

There is a huge part of me that mourns the loss of her baby months, but another part that rejoices in all the milestones and achievements to come. I love and am so proud of my baby girl.

Here is the final picture.

A Girl After My Own Heart!

She may look like her daddy, but Izzie acts just like me! Some of you may say, oh no. That's ok. She had to get something from me. After all, half of her chromosomes came from my side, remember? Well that being said, she demonstrated just how much she is like her momma last night when she ate peas, cornbread, and chocolate cake for supper. YUM!

1st Birthday Party

We celebrated Izzie's 1st birthday about 6 days early this past Saturday. I don't think that I have ever enjoyed a birthday party for anyone, myself included, as much as I enjoyed Izzie's party. We ended up having about 20 guest, which put our house right at capacity. I had just enough seating minus one, and I sat on Greg's computer chair! My parents, sister, grandparents, one uncle, one cousin, and two aunts came. Greg's Mom and Stepdad came, and our pastor and his family came. Greg grilled hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, and I prepared baked beans and macaroni and cheese. Izzie wasn't too sure about the whole cake thing at first. I can only guess that she was freaked out by the 10 cameras flashing while everyone stared at her. I don't think that she has ever had that much attention at one time. Once she got the hang of it, Izzie dug right in, though. The first present Izzie opened was a musical interactive purse that my sister bought her. She was quite upset when we took it away and handed her another gift. The Lord blessed us yet again, and we had a wonderful celebration with our family and friends.
