Here I sit on the eve of your 3rd birthday, and there are so many things I want you to know. First of all, I want to you know that your daddy and I love you more than you could ever imagine. You are so special. I can look at you, with all your strengths and weaknesses and see that God has an amazing plan for your life. I love your compassionate heart. You truly love your sister. Yes, she bothers you at times. Yes, she takes your toys and screams when you get attention, but you love her. When she gets hurt and cries, you are the first one to call for help. You share your toys with her. Even if it is a precious toy to you, you share if she cries. You give the BEST hugs. You are smart, and thanks to Dora the Explorer, you are nearly bilingual. You love Dora and Cinderella above all things. You really enjoy arts and crafts. We made a construction paper castle this morning at your request. You still cuddle your pink baby blankets. You are fully potty trained, except for naps and night time. You are a very picky eater.(Pizza, chicken nuggets, french fries, macaroni and cheese, hot/corn dogs and eggs) You are also very strong willed, much like your father! You are kind and considerate. You say "thank you" most of the time, and have started to say "please" as well. You talk a lot! We will start speech therapy soon so we can understand all those words you have been saying! You are a girly girl. You like dresses, shoes, and purses. You enjoy dressing up (especially as a princess) and playing with your toy kitchen.. You talk on the phone to your Nanna and Grammy fairly often. You are tall, wearing a size 4 T! You are my heart, and I have been so blessed to be your mother. Sisters are wonderful! When Izzie was a mere 7 months old we knew that we wanted her to have a sibling to share her life with. A month later, Ms Liza Ann was on her way. I love having them so close together in age. I will be the first to admit that having 2 only 16 months apart is not always easy. In fact, sometimes, it is very, very hard. But, when I see them playing together, and laughing together, it is all very very worth it!

Izzie is a GREAT big sister. She loves Liza and is very passionate towards her. Whenever she cries, Izzie is the first one to her. "It's otay, Dida." or "Don't cry, Dida." are both phrases that echo in our home every day. Izzie shares with Liza, well, most of the time. She even comes to comfort Liza in her crib if I can't get there right away! She has a very compassionate heart, especially to be 2 1/2.

Liza admires her big sister. She always wants to be involved in whatever Izzie is doing. She has started trying to say her sister's name. It sounds something like "Diddy." Liza picks up quickly on the things Izzie does. I suppose that is another reason to be grateful for having such a well mannered big sister.

Speaking of wonderful sisters, my wonderful sister, Heather, made the girls these matching dresses. "Thanks, Aunt Heather!"

This antique high chair belonged to me when I was a child. It was at my grandmother's house, and I sat in it every time we saw her. I'm glad Liza loves it, too!

Easter 2011

He is risen!!!! Happy Resurrection Day, all!
We had a wonderful Easter weekend. It started with our annual Maundy Thursday service, where we got to take comunion as well as participate in the ceremonial foot washing service. Good Friday was spent with my parents. We ate, opened Easter baskets, dyed and hunted eggs. On Saturday we had our church egg hunt. Our girls know what to do with Easter eggs! The May sisters fared quite well to be 1 and 2 years old. Sunday morning, the Easter bunny came, the girls ate candy and we went to out Risen Savior's house to worship! I am in love with my 2 little princesses and their matching Easter dresses!

This was the park I was most looking forward to seeing. However, it turned out to be my least favorite park of all. The girls slept alot while we were there. It was very crowded. We so no characters. Space Mountain was broken. There was a parade that started at 9:30 which kept us from making it to our bus at 10:00.

But.... my awesome sister helped us the whole time!

More Epcot

Epcot was absolutly my favorite park. We drove through the night, ate breakfast, and were dropped off at the park about 9:00am. The bus did not pick us up until 9:00 pm. Talk about a long day. The park is HUGE. No kidding, I be we walked at lease 6 or 7 miles that first day. There were not many characters out at Epcot. In fact, I only saw Daisy duck, and she was in front of about 50 kids. No waiting in line for us. The kids napped a lot in the stroller while we were at Disney. I was very thankful for that, but we didn't get to do as much as we would have liked to because someone had to stay with the sleeping babe. I only got pictures of Germany (above) and China (previous post.) The ferry across to the countries was a real treat for the girls. Izzie hit Alice in Wonderland in the face when she picked her up. Sorry, Alice. That about sums up Epcot!

Our family got the opportunity to travel to Disney World with the jazz band over spring break. 12 hours one way on a charter bus was a bit challenging, but overall, the girls were great. We had a wonderful time.
Day 1 was Epcot- my favorite! Lots of Walking! The counties were neat, and the flowers were beautiful! The girls were NOT into pictures the 1st day!

Liza turned 1 back on the 16th! We celebrated with a party the Saturday before her birthday. Papaw Eyeore, Nanna, Mamaw, Aunt Heather, Aunt Trishie, Kyrsten, and Andrew all came to help us celebrate. We also got a surprise visit from the church youth group! Liza dove into her cake, made a huge mess, but failed to actually eat any of it. She opened her presents like a pro. She knows just what to do with wrapping paper! She took her 1st 2 steps going to her new bean bag at the party. I can hardly believe that my baby is a year old!

Liza wears a size 12 month clothes.

She wears a size 3 shoe.

She sleeps through the night... sometimes!
She crawls at the speed of sound!
She takes 2-3 steps at a time.
She has 2 teeth.
She is a mommy's girl!
She still nurses.
She usually eats table food pretty well.
She doesn't like the sippy cup.
She says: uh oh, bye bye, momma, daddy, hey there, anna and sarah!
She weighs 16.9 pounds(<5%) and is 29.25 inches long(60%)!

She is changing before our very eyes, and we love her to pieces.

Snow Day

Liza turned 11 months old today. I can't believe that in 1 month we will be celebrating her 1st birthday. Infancy is fleeting. It seems like only yesterday that I wheeled into the OR and came out the mother of 2! I reemember looking at her tiny body, touching her soft skin, and smelling her sweet, newborn smell.

Today she vaguely resembles that tiny babe. She is an active, playful, almost toddler. She eats everything on her plate (and the floor for that matter!) She pulls up on everything and is cruising wherever she can. She plays with Izzie well, most times. She is a nasty hair puller (Izzie can attest to that!) She still nurses and wakes usually once a night. Liza loves attention. She emulates syllables and sounds that me or her daddy make. She is getting better with her sippy cup. She is long and skinny. Liza wears a size 12 month clothes, but weighs just over 15 pounds. She is the apple of my eye. I can hardly remember our lives without her. I love you, Liza Ann!

Stomach Bug

Our poor little Liza has been the victim of a stomach virus. Her friend, Emmy, had just fallen victim to this same virus only moments befire we picked Liza up from daycare yesterday. I guess like all good friends, Emmy shared. So, Liza and Mommy have been chilling at home today. Hopefully the worst of it is over. Other than being a little whiny, Liza has been pretty delightful. The picture was taken this morning while we were waiting for the bath to fill, as you can see, she is all smiles!

Ice Day 2010

We didn't see much snow over the past 2 days, but we saw a good bit of ice. School and daycare were closed, so we had the chance to enjoy. Izzie loved it. Oh what a difference a year makes. She HATED the snow that occurred 4 days before Liza was born. Today she enjoyed hopping through the ice and picking icicles! Liza ... she was oblivious!

Christmas 2010

We had a whirlwind of traveling, present opening, and Jesus worshiping this past Christmas.
Our first stop was my Uncle JD and Aunt Trishie's place. This is my mom's side of the family. Here we read the Christmas story by candlelight then played a little dirty santa.

Next, we were off to my home town to spend a little time with my grandparents and my Uncle Darrell.

Then we went to my parents' home for more presents!
Whoa!!! Too much Christmas excitement!!!!

Finally we made it home.
The night before Christmas we baked Jesus' birthday cake. We decorated it and sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus Christmas morning.

Santa came. He brought several presents for the girls. I am most proud of the homemade kitchen set and aprons that some busy elves made.

Our sweet little Liza turned 10 months old ysterday. She is getting big- weighing in at 16 lbs and 7 oz. She is BUSY- always on the go. She is pulling up on everything. She puts everything in her mouth. She recently attended Bandmasters clinic with me. She has begun to sleep through the night, and enjoys playing with her sister. Yeah Liza!

This Thansgining was one of much travel. 1st stop was Greg's Aunt Ann's place for a visit and a little "horse" play. Liza was game. Izzie was terrified! Then we went to my Grandparents' house for food and fellowship. Everyone enjoyed...except Izzie who refused to eat. We ended the evening with a nice meal with Greg's parents. Izzie ended the day with a muffin!

Sweet little Liza turned 9 months old today. It is hard to imagine that her 1st birthday is right around the corner!
She is wearing a size 9-12 month clothes, a size 2 shoe, and a size 1 diaper. She is as delightful as ever and has even started to play with her Daddy a bit. She LOVES to eat! She has recently started drinking from a cup, and has gotten 2 teeth in the past week! She and Izzie love each other and have started to play together! She is crawling (sliding on her belly) everywhere. This weekend she learned how to get to sitting position. Wow! She is amazing!

Last night we had our annual Fall Festival at church. Izzie and Liza dressed up in (homemade) costumes of Larry and Bob from Veggie Tales. Greg and I loaded them in the wagon and walked to the church. Izzie had a blast at the fall fest, She junped in the bouncy thing and pulled plastic ducks out of a little pool! Elizabeth got her to eat some cheetos, and she devoured a cup cake. Izzie enjoyed the trunk or treating. She said "Trick or treat" to the first few people and was sure to tell everyone "Thank You" for the candy!

Izzie turned 2 a week ago, but I am just now getting around to this post. We celebrated 1 week early with a party at church. We rented one of those huge bouncy things, and about 10 other little tykes bounced on it with Izzie. She had a blast, got lots of presents, and ate... a cheeto. She wasn't a bit interested in the cake her daddy and I made. Nanna and Aunt Heather and Kirsten came up to help us celebrate. Daddy and Mommy gave her a red tricycle (which is a bit big for her right now!) On her actual birthday we celebrated with purple cup cakes. Mmmm!

Liza turned 7 months old yesterday! I cannot think of a better subject for my 200th post. Liza is the light of our lives! She is very happy and totally sociable! She smiles often and has started making consonant-vowel combinations ( da da da.) She loves to eat solids and has begun to nurse less. She did a little marine crawl Wednesday night, so I figure that she will be mobile soon. She loves to play with toys. Her favorite toy is her Violet dog. She usually wakes once a night to feed but has slept through the night twice this week. She loves her sister who tells her "it's o-tay, Dida," when she cries. Thank you, God, for our smallest angel!

Happy 1/2 Year, sweet girl! You bring me so much joy each day. You smile, laugh, play, and hold your mommy and daddy's heart. You are such an easy baby- content and happy. You love to be talked to. You are still long and skinny- 90% in length and 10% in weight! You are working on sitting alone (up to 19 seconds tonight!) You were exclusively breastfed until you were 6 months old, but are enjoying eating anything we will give you now. The past 2 nights you have slept all night-yay! Keep on growing, Liza girl!

Liza ate food for the first time last night- 2 days shy of 6 months old. We had planned on waiting until Monday, but the menu items at the Hall's seemed too good to pass up. She ate mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and cream cheese frosting. I am soooo glad that I am not a first time mommy this time. Poor Izzie was force fed rice cereal at the urging of the pediatrician when she was a mere 4 months old. It was a disaster. Last night was definitely Not a disaster. Happy eating, Liza girl!

This is BR, Izzie's best friend. They are 6 weeks apart in age and have been buddies since they were 3 and 4 months old. They had RSV together just after Izzie started going to the daycare. They got ear tubes less than a week apart. When they were learning to walk, BR would push Izzie in the walker. They greet each other at the door each morning with a hug and excitement. And... Yesterday was BR's last day at our daycare. I had to snap a pic of these two wild girls before she left. Best of luck BR. We sure are gonna miss you!

Izzie had her 1st hair cut on Friday, which was consequently her 21 month birthday. She didn't get much cut off. Rather, just evened up. She is changing from a baby to a little girl right before our eyes. Sniff Sniff... I can't wait to see what God has planned for her!

Happy Father's Day to all those "Dads" out there. This morning Izzie and Liza woke up lovin' on their daddy. Izzie started the day by running up to Greg, shouting "Daddy!" and raising her hands up. Izzie delivered the gift which she and Liza had personalized themselves. It was a book call The Fathers are Coming Home. First released during the second World War, this book tells of dads of all species coming home to their young. It ends with the Sailor coming home to his little boy. Izzie sat in Greg's lap and let him read the whole book to her. She seems to really enjoy him reading to her. I cannot get her to sit still long enough to read to her. I guess it has something to do with her daddy.

Liza turned 4 months old today! She is spending the day at home with Mommy and Daddy while her big sister is at daycare. Liza is the most delightful baby. She coos. She sleeps. She nurses. She SMILES! She has earned the nickname Smiley because she is SO happy. She still sleeps through the night most nights and likes to nap in her swing with her blankie and paci during the day. She still likes to be swaddled in her miracle blanket at night, even though she is getting to big for it. She has mastered rolling over both ways and gave us her first little giggle this past month. She likes the quite and gets upset when there is too much noise. Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

Liza turned 3 months old yesterday. She has gotten so BIG! She weighs about 10.5 lbs. and wears size 3 month clothes. She has been sleeping through the night consistently, minus a couple of nights. She smiles on cue. Loves to be talked to. And really loves to nurse. She has recently started to reach for toys, and has successfully rolled over both ways! I suspect she is starting to teethe because her hands stay in her mouth alot. She is a great baby! We are so blessed to have her in our lives.

Just a few pics from the weekend. Greg and I had our first date since Liza was born Friday. Grammy and Papaw kept the girls so that we could go listen to the Pepsi Pops Concert. It was excellent. Saturday we headed South to see Nanna and Papaw Eyeore. Sunday we worshiped and had Mother's Day Lunch at Olive Garden... Yum!

Yesterday we dedicated our daughter, Elizabeth Ann May, to the Lord. It is very humbling to me to think that the God of the Universe created a life inside of me and chose to allow my husband and I to raise this child- Not our child but His. We commit ourselves to the Lord just as we commit to raise our daughter in His ways. Her name, Elizabeth, means Chosen by God. Ann is a derivative of Hannah, which means Grace. What a beautiful name for our second born child. We love you, Liza, and praise God for the Gift He has given us in you!

2 Months Old

Liza turned 2 months old on Friday! She is the best baby. She has slept all night 5 out of the last 6 nights!! (I hope last night was not the last night!) She rarely fusses unless she is hungry, dirty, or sleepy. She moved into her own room at 7 weeks old! Daycare is going well. She can roll from tummy to back, and is working on rolling from back to tummy. She smiles! She coos! At her 2 month doctor's visit, she weighed 9 lbs and 7 oz and was 22 1/4 inches long.

1st Week at Daycare

Liza and I changed our routine as of this past Monday. I went back to work, and she started daycare. I can say that I could not be more pleased with how this has worked this week. Liza has slept through the night Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Unfortunately, I have been waking in what used to be her normal feeding time (3:30 am) She is doing great at daycare. The first day, they had a little trouble getting her to take the bottle, but she caught on fast and is eating like a champ. She is still nursing very well, and I am proud to report that so far, she hasn't had to have formula (except for the first day!) I didn't think that I would be able to pump and keep up with her, but amazingly, I have.

The guys at work are glad that I am back, and I am glad to be there. I am much more excited about my job than I was before I left. The kids are great, and I am getting ready to take my 7th grade band to contest. We only have 5 more weeks of school until summer! I've been very tired this week. I'm hoping that I can rest this weekend and adjust soon to having to rise at 5:00 am.

This Girl

This little girl makes my day, every day! She is smart, loves hot dogs and macaroni and cheese, relishes her purple blankie and adores her care bear bedtime book. Twice today she has pointed to her barrettes and said "BOW!" She loves to play games and is always on the go. She is already a great big sister. She tries to put Liza's paci back in her mouth when she cries and takes Liza's blankie to daddy when he is holding baby sister. She kisses Liza on the head and rocks her in the bouncy seat. She can't wait until they can play together. She makes my day, every day!

Easter

We had a great Easter weekend. Good Friday we went to my parents' house and enjoyed a fabulous lunch and some much needed time with Nana and Papaw Eyeore. My grandparents came as well, so much love was to be had at the Davis home. My mom bought Izzie and Liza some super cute outfits she found at her super "discount" store... Fabulous! She also bought Izzie this Tutu.

Saturday, the girls enjoyed and egg hunt at our church's family life center. Izzie was all about running around with eggs in her hand, but she did not want to stop long enough to put them in her basket. Liza hung out with her daddy while mommy chased Izzie. FYI, Liza started handing out smiles on Thursday!

The Easter bunny came Sunday morning. Izzie has been on a sugar rush since the egg hunt Saturday. Izzie has learned how to bring me and her daddy an egg and grunt until we open it and give her the contents.

Then we were off to church to worship the Risen Savior! I'm ok with the The Easter Bunny and Egg hunts, but I want our children to appreciate Easter for the the REAL reason. Christ was crucified for our sins and rose again on the 3rd day so that we can obtain eternal life through him. HOW EXCITING!

Izzie Update

Our Biggest little girl turned 18 months old today! I looked at the blog this morning and realized that the past several post have been about Liza. Well this post is mostly about Izzie. She is quickly approaching the 24 month size. I bought her 2 pretty little dresses today for Easter because I just couldn't decide on one. She runs almost everywhere. She is becoming more and more a Daddy's girl, but she still needs her Mommy sometimes, too! She has started to test her limits and craves boundaries. She will reach for something that she knows that she isn't supposed to have just to see if Greg or I will tell her no. She is a smart little cookie. She absolutely adores Veggie Tales (which is the only reason I am getting to write this post right now!) She is still a picky eater, but has started to try new things. Cheese is always a winner! In fact, she had a piece of sliced cheddar and a piece of string mozzarella for supper tonight. She can drink from a straw now and is starting to learn how to use a spoon!And... She loves her little sister, Liza!

Liza turned 5 weeks old today. In honor of this day, she is sporting a new outfit that was given to us in the hospital, only to be rediscovered this weekend! Liza is growing very well. She was up to 8lbs and 4oz last Thursday! Now that she is past the 8 lb mark, we don't have to keep going to the pediatricians office every week for a weight check. She had a few bottles starting last week. She WAY prefers Momma over the bottle. We'll have to work a little on that before she goes to daycare in 3 weeks.

This Man

I suppose it has been a while since I have made a post about this man, the one who I adore. He is the one who listens to me when I have crazy hormonal moments, the one who plays with our oldest daughter, takes her to the park, feeds her cheese, and reads her bedtime stories. He is the one who cooks whenever I ask him to, and goes to the doughnut shop when requested. And, he's also the one who gave Liza her first bottle last night so that I could cook supper. I love you, Greg!
